Welcome to the website of Achnacraig, Duror of Appin

Achnacraig is a contempory, architect designed house set in its own secluded grounds on the edge of the small village of Duror. It is available for weekly lets for up to 6 people.

Quiet and secluded, it is an excellent location for tourists, walkers and cyclists to explore the great outdoors of Lochaber. The area offers fabulous scenery, geology and history, empty glens, forests and lochs. There is a variety of wildlife residing in the vicinity of the house with sightings of otter, deer, foxes and red squirrels. There is also an abundant bird population with raptors, owls and woodpeckers frequently spotted.

Duror is a lovely spot for a holiday and exploring the beauties of the surrounding area. Nearby Cuil Bay has a sandy beach and is an SSSI, with interesting rock formations and a Stonehenge type monolith nearby. Duror lies on the Argyll Coastal Route between Oban (30 miles) and Fort William (18m, all facilities).

There are excellent walks to be had in the immediate vicinity, though serious walkers, climbers and skiers in season will no doubt be heading for nearby Glencoe.

With its own woodland, river front and ponds (care with children!) set in over 4 acres of ground Achnacraig, it is an ideal holiday location in itself. Situated adjacent to the birth place of James of the Glen, the area is steeped in history.
